4 reasons now is a great time to build a home.

Currently, with the economy the way it is, people don’t want to think about building a home. But if owning a new home is your goal the time couldn’t be better.

Here are four things to consider.

1. Building costs are a lot less expensive than they have been for a number of years. The cost of lumber is low and many of the subcontractors I work with are charging far less for labor than they have for years just to keep their employees busy.

2. The cost of land has come down. Many of the lots are selling for a quarter of the price they were several years ago. People can find lots with great views and in good neighborhoods for bargain prices.

3. As probably everyone knows, long term interest rates are at an all-time low. People who borrow money for a home now will most likely get the best rates they will ever get in their lifetime. I would encourage anyone thinking about building a new home to visit with their financial institution and get a Good Faith Estimate. I think you’ll be surprised to find out that you can own a new home for about what you pay for rent.

4. If building a new home and being able to choose all your colors, styles, and decor is your goal, I would encourage you to contact a licensed, local contractor to get a free quote, and see what a great deal you can get. Now is a fantastic time to build a new home.
